So up until now, I’ve have not seen the whole picture. I’ve been blind, I don’t mean literally, but I do think it has been deliberate. I’ve had my eyes wide open to the wrong thing for so long they may as well have been shut.
I was never taught about finance – not a single thing, ever. The most I ever understood was that you have a bank account and that it has an interest rate. You have a credit card, and it has an interest rate that is just plain stupid compared to your bank account’s. I though life was designed around debt because it had to be.
I had no idea a 401k meant that my money was being invested, I thought it was like a bank, just with some sort of tax relief, which I also didn’t understand.
Why did I never hear about why investing is so important and essential to long term wealth stability and growth?
I have a suspicion that not everybody is supposed to hear about it, otherwise this would be something started in High School and hammered in!
But they don’t want you to graduate and know how to spend less than you earn, invest the surplus, and avoid debt so you can enjoy early retirement and live extremely happy and free…
What they want are replaceable parts for their well oiled machine, parts who are bound to them because of their massive debts – until they break or die.
Well not anymore! I’ve had a FIRE lit in me! I’m starting to figure some things out and it won’t be the same form now on. I’m going to start living frugally, investing smartly, and avoiding all debts!
